Reflections on the 39th Rotational Shelter Season

It’s hard to believe we’re already in March! With rotations in full swing—one even wrapped up—this season has been a great one so far. That’s not to say it’s been without challenges. We’ve had a few bumps along the way, but at ISN, we see those as opportunities to learn and grow.

Our congregational volunteers have been incredible organized, dedicated, and always stepping up to meet the needs of the guests. We are so grateful to everyone who has played a role in our shelters, both past and present.

What stands out this year is the power of collaboration. People of all faiths come together to serve the unhoused, and communication has been key. In the past it seems that a lot of challenges fell mainly on congregational volunteers and case managers, however this year it comes across as dedicated teamwork.

This is only the second year that Manolo and I have led the program and it's feeling more cohesive. I truly believe that’s because of strong communication and being present. The ISN staff has been available, responsive, and ready to support in any way we can.

Looking ahead, our goal is to restore the Emergency Shelter Program to longer-term rotations and expand our network of host and supporting churches. Together, we can continue making a meaningful impact.
